Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island called West Island. People unfamiliar with the term often think that there is a separate island west of Montreal However, in reality the West Island is home to every aspect of Lachine west to the Lachine city. Lachine west. Many times, it is credited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was not long. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. At the beginning of her life, she wanted to be the next big thing in her career, but a sudden increase in her height made it difficult. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. Once I was bigger than the size of my male companion and stopped dancing, I quit. Former dancers often turn to acting, and in the instance of Brugel, it was an urging from her drama teacher. One of her teachers suggested she take part in an audition for the annual school play. In the 20+ years since Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions on small and big screens, attracting the greatest interest when she was offered the part of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below).
