Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an American-born British sitarist and musician. She is also the youngest and first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Shankar is among India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982 and began her life by hopping to London in London and New Delhi. As a teenager the first time she performed at New Delhi took place. At the age of 13, she finished her high school studies at Encinitas CA. Anouskha was only an teen, has enjoyed a successful performing and recording career. She has been performing with her father on stage for many years. The singer made Anourag her debut album on her own in 1998. A year later, she dropped the Grammy nomination-winning Live at Carnegie Hall. As she's appeared on all the major stages in the world, her performance career has been expansive. After moving to California she graduated from high school. Anoushka Shankar started her musical studies at the age of nine. A few years later she performed her music debut with the sitar Delhi at her father's 75th birthday party. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of knowledge by traveling around the globe together with her father. She played at Carnegie Hall in her teenage time, and also recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. Her talent and musicality were acknowledged by the British parliament as the best at Asian Arts.
